As a huge fan of the originals, I came away disappointed

Honestly, I had no emotional attachment to the majority of the characters and most of them were just boring and stupid. The film was at times tacky, feeling like it took an age to get going and relying far too heavily on the tropes of the Alien franchise to add any real color to the plot and storyline. The special effects were quite good and the design of the original xenomorph was excellent, although the face huggers look worse in this film than they did in Alien and Aliens for some reason. Don’t get too excited about the current hype surrounding Romulus, it’s not a terrible film but it’s not a great film either.

It’s pretty simplified, but it could be better

When I first saw the trailer, I wanted to watch this movie because I like this kind of thing (simple storytelling, low budget, deep conversations, etc.). After watching this movie, I want to say as much as I can about the story.

Sean and Dakota’s acting was top-notch

I wish there was less swearing other than the conversations being pretty honest. The bond shown in the film remained in their hearts knowing that they might never meet again and their conversations remained in their hearts for the rest of their lives.

David Howard Thornton was the sixth person to audition for Art The Clown after Mike Giannelli retired from the role and acting altogether. During the audition, he began miming tasting the blood of his decapitated victim, but later added salt to it to enhance its flavor. In the shots where Tara is gagged with tape, the tape clearly makes no contact with her lower mouth in some earlier shots, while it is tightly wrapped around both of her lips in other shots.

A brutal, barbaric, bestial horror packed with gut-wrenching deaths and senseless savagery, Terrifier is completely devoid of basic narrative underpinnings and exists solely to shock, disturb, unsettle and disgust its viewers with its endless gore and no-holds-barred carnage, but for those with a taste for the extreme, this indie slasher may prove to be a welcome thrill-ride and death ride. Written, produced, edited and directed by Damien Leone, the plot is merely a rough outline with nothing of value brewing underneath and only exists as an excuse for the filmmaker to indulge in old-school tricks that propel the violence and makeup. The special effects and makeup are noteworthy, but with an absent narrative and no characters to support it, the film doesn’t cover much distance.

Another hurdle that hinders the ride is the shoddy dialogue and awful acting, not to mention that it also lacks tension and is quite predictable and repetitive. The cardboard characters keep making idiotic decisions throughout the film that only diminish our interest in their fate, if there ever was one. Overall, Terrifier is as disgusting and repulsive as it is crude and merciless and often gets carried away with its scenes of torture and terror. While there is an audience for this kind of cinematic offering, the film remains a forgettable ride for the most part.

Still, Art the Clown shows promise and potential to become an icon of the horror franchise, but his character and mythology needs to be better developed than it is here. Art the Clown, Pennywise, and Killer Klowns are just a few of the comical creatures that give us the creeps.
